Pride Month and Voter Registration
People don’t usually hug me when I register them to vote; but for some reason the cause and the day made it feel more compelling to hug! Members of COVA Coalition staffed booths at Pride in the Parking Lot and Pride at the Peake this year to register voters. We also shared the message that we’ll defend the rights to love who you want to love, marry who you want to marry and choose when and if you become a parent.
That feeling of love and protection was palpable, and I guess, inspired hugs all day. A large number of those whom we registered were young people. WE owe it to them to make this world a safe place, and one that welcomes them with open arms (and open precincts)!
